Funerals

There are different reasons why a bereaved family wish to hold their loved one’s funeral at St Peter’s.  For the majority, it is because they live in the parish but for others, it may be that the deceased was married or baptised at St Peter’s or for others, it is where formative years have been spent.

On the death of a friend or relative the first thing to do to begin making arrangements is to contact a funeral director. There are a number of reputable companies in and around Redcar, some being a part of a larger organisation and some being independent family companies.

Following a discussion with the family, the funeral director will contact the church to arrange a time to suit all parties when the service will take place. Once confirmed the vicar will contact the next of kin to arrange a visit to discuss the details of the service.  After the church service, the vicar will accompany the family to either the cemetery or crematorium to conduct the act of committal.

Arranging the funeral of a loved one is always a difficult and emotive thing to do but both the funeral director and the vicar are there to offer support and guidance.
